Sir Winston Churchill and his wife Clementine married in 1908 and wrote loving letters whenever apart from each other. They had five children and were to together for more than 56 years until Churchill's death in 1965. The letter above was written from Randolph Hearst's desert villa at San Simeon, California. Hearst introduced Churchill to the glamorous world of Hollywood during his 1929 visit. Transcript to the full letter can be read here.
The Churchill's often did something so dear {that we love}, and that is... adding little cartoon sketches to their love letters. He was her "pug" and she was his "cat." Letters of enduring love.
