Celebrating Spring Green

According to various accounts, blue was the original color associated with St. Patrick's Day. But, that all changed around the 17th-century when green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of the day. Green is one of three colors in the flag of Ireland—the country known as the "Emerald Isle" for its lush, green landscape. Green is also the color of spring. And, after a long winter here in Maine, that gives us reason to celebrate. So here's to green and to welcoming spring and all that blooms with it!
